90 Wimpole Street, W1
This project involved a comprehensive transformation, starting with the installation of a stunning new façade, which included custom arched openings to enhance the building's external aesthetic and create a more welcoming entrance.
Internally, we fully refurbished the entire space, ensuring each area met the high standards of both function and design. We integrated cutting-edge mechanical and electrical (M&E) services, improving the building’s infrastructure and ensuring sustainability and efficiency. Our work also included the creation of a brand-new studio space, thoughtfully designed with bespoke FF&E to complement the overall design and offer a dynamic, flexible environment for its users.
We managed the project, ensuring that every detail, from the internal layout to the final finishes, adhered to the vision set out by Vivendi Architects. The result is a refined, modern space that successfully combines aesthetic appeal with high-performance functionality.

What the Architect said:
We were approached by our client to re-furbish and re-design a ground floor commercial space with the aim of restoring the building’s historic character and providing a new Pilates studio.
We worked closely with our client in order to ensure that the brief and functionality of the space was met whilst collaborating with manufacturers and suppliers to bring our vision for the new design.
The new facade draws influence from the character of the Conservation Area with the new arched openings framing the entrance and the studio. The interior design aimed to bring more light and height to the spaces with the use of exposed services at ceiling level and mirror-covered walls.
A bit of history
The name Wimpole comes from the Wimpole Estate in Cambridgeshire, which in the 18th century was the seat of the Harley family, who developed the street.
One of the residents most associated with the street was the poet Elizabeth Barrett, who lived at 50 Wimpole Street with her family from 1838 until 1846 when she eloped with Robert Browning. The street became famous from the play based on their courtship, The Barretts of Wimpole Street. The play starred Katharine Cornell, and when she retired, she moved to E. 51st St. in New York. As she was now neighbour to two other actors who also starred in the play, the street was nicknamed "Wimpole Street"
